BEZER Consultoría de Ingeniería is the Representative in Argentina and Colombia of the Spanish company BYO Towers that has developed and patented a new system for the construction of concrete towers (concrete) for wind turbines in wind farms.
Basically, the patent that BYO Towers has developed consists of a prefabricated tower at the base of what will be its final position.
It is made up of frustoconical sections 11.50 m high each. Thus, a 120 m tower would have 10 conical sections, the last of which incorporates the steeladaptor to join the tower with the wind turbine and achieve the desired height. There are no panels or segments, there are no vertical joints - so expensive and delicate to execute - there are no rings or small concrete elements. Nor is a factory necessary - fixed or mobile - because the entire process takes place on the mounting platform of each tower. The only transport required is that of the molds or formwork from one position to the next and the movement of raw materials (concrete and steel), all carried out with conventional transport equipment (12 m long and 24 t maximum weight).
This new concept can significantly reduce the costs of construction and assembly of wind towers, between 25% and 35% reduction in direct costs. Thanks to the experience developed in the wind industry, the system has very simple and straightforward concepts that make it possible to build the towers anywhere in the world. "
Precast Foundations for Wind Turbines
BEZER Consultoría de Ingeniería is the Representative in Argentina and Colombia of the Spanish company BYO Towers that has developed and patented a new construction system for foundations for wind towers totally prefabricated, in principle for steel towers although it can also be adapted to concrete towers.
The solution is quite attractive for wind farm civil engineering builders, wind farm developers / owners and turbine manufacturers, and is also the general trend for several reasons: speed of execution, competitiveness, higher level of quality, absence of pathologies during the useful life of the turbine and the possibility of concreting in the factory under adverse weather conditions in the park, are some of its advantages compared to the one built in situ.
The concept of the structure is that, with a single mold, by means of easily adjustable inserts, foundations can be prefabricated from 14 to 24 m in diameter, depending in each case on the loads, type of wind turbine and the mechanical characteristics of the soil.
In general, the foundation can be made up of 26 pieces, 2 central rings, 8 identical outer perimeter slabs, 8 identical inner perimeter slabs and 8 identical radial ribs. The volume of the foundation can vary from 250 m3 to 300 m3 with approximately 43 tonnes of passive steel and 4000 kg of active steel in bars for post-tensioning of the joints between the pedestal and the ribs. The joints between exterior slabs and between ribs and slabs are with passive reinforcement.
One of its greatest advantages is the speed of execution. They can be manufactured prior to the beginning of the works of the park and later assembled very easily. It takes two cranes and four days to make connections and post-tensioning. In five working days the foundation would be finished, in the absence of only the filling. By incorporating more joint and post-tensioning equipment, with the help of cranes, up to 3 foundations / week can be built. They can be manufactured at any time of the year, in adverse weather conditions. It is a good option to meet tight work schedules.
